last year all i wanted for christmas was… a spiffy festive jumper (and you, of course) however i found the only decent ones were either ridiculously large man sizes (and i mean like XXXL, cause usually i’d have gone with it regardless) or insane amounts of money. seriously, there are christmas jumpers on ebay no better than mine for like £80. i decided the most sensible thing to do was to wait until it was off peak season for festive items and i did and now its august and they are still all ridiculously expensive because they are ‘vintage’. i’m willing to bet that the recent rise in gold prices is nothing compared to increases in worth of 80s garments in the past five years. so having searched for the past few months continually for the bargain i was after i gave up today and then moments later brought out a mantra that is getting ever more common for me: screw it, i’ll make it myself. i wandered down to zara (sniffing and sneezing like the sick person i am, hating that all these manky used tissues were stuffed in my bag and pockets, bopping about pathetically to genesis) and picked up a red knit jumper for £5. it was in the sale.
so here is the jumper i will be wearing each day of advent this year (or thereabouts) i’ll be sure to tumblr a picture of me in it as the first window of the metaphorical advent calender that is my blog in december.
if you are interested in making your own i put a how to on cutoutandkeep.net which you can get to by clicking the beautiful jumper.

bilsland bakery, abandoned building in glasgow that i stumbled upon today; love that the doors are still there from the inside now on the outside, like they sliced the place open with a knife.
